Travel to the Alps
If you are travelling from the United States of America then you need to arrange flights to Europe. If you are joining us on a trip starting and ending in Chamonix then your best to fly into Geneva Airport, this is the closest airport to Chamonix. You might need to book a connection via Paris or Zurich if you cannot book a direct flight.

If you are travelling from other countries then it is best to also fly into Geneva. If you are travelling within Europe then the train is a good option and there are regular connections to Geneva and also to Le Fayet/St. Gervais-Les-Bains (closer still to Chamonix) from Paris and other major European cities. Rail Europe is an excellent website to use to check on train connections and timetables, also Seat 61 has lots of useful information on European rail travel.

To reach Chamonix from Geneva airport we recommend that you book in advance a seat on one of the airport transfer services that run minibuses from the airport to Chamonix. We work with Haute Transfer who offer a competitive rate and a professional service. You can book a seat on a shared transfer so you will travel with other people or you can book private transfers just for yourself or your group of friends. This is a door-to-door service, so you will be dropped off and collected from your accommodation. If you wish, then we can make a bookingfor you, for which there might incur a small booking fee.

Alternatively, you can use the Quick Quote box below and book and pay directly with them.
If you are joining us on a trip to La Grave then you should look to fly into either Lyon or Grenoble airports. Onward travel can be done by train and then a taxi or by bus to La Grave. If you are prepared to hire a car then driving is a good option, from Lyon the journey is about 2 hours 15 minutes by road and from Grenoble takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.
From Lyon airport, it is possible to take a bus via Grenoble to the Office du Tourisme in La Grave or a combination of the train to Grenoble and the bus to La Grave. A useful website to use to plan travel is Rome2Rio where you can enter your departure point and destination and dates of travel and it will show you the options available. If you are traveling at the weekends then there are some shared road transfer options from Grenoble Airport like Ben's Bus. There is a public bus service from the city of Grenoble, information is available here at Zou!.fr
